A few observations

We were talking and came up with a few observations for our five days in Vienna. Here they are:

  • There are no fat people here (maybe because so many have to walk so much and don't have cars?)
  • Everyone speaks German and no one speaks Spanish (unfortunately).
  • People do have children, but the maximum number seems to be two.
  • There is no trash on the streets. The sidewalks are sort of grimy, but there isn't any garbage or litter.
  • Everyone obeys the traffic signals and the walk/don't walk signs.
  • There a very, very few beggars. We've only seen two so far, and they don't look like Austrians.
  • All the public transportation seems to run smoothly and mostly on time.
  • About 30% of the people smoke. Cough. Cough.
  • Here in the middle of the city it appears to be the custom to go grocery shopping almost every day. Everything is packaged in very small amounts. I guess you have to be able to carry it home with you after work.
